Kindergarten Monthly Newsletter
*Reminders* *Please remember to check your child’s backpack and take home folder daily. *Changes in transportation need to be in writing & if picking up your child early please have your picture ID with you. *If you are interested in volunteering/chaperoning please go to the HES webpage and click on the links/resources page (volunteer) and fill out the application before field trips. *Upcoming Dates* *October 12th: Picture Day *October 18th: SIC/PTO Meetings5:30/6:00pm *October 19th: Early 11:30am *October 21st: Report Cards Sent Home *October 21st:Pumpkin Patch Field Trip: The cost for the trip is $12. The deadline to turn in money and permission slip is Friday, October 14th. *What You Can Do at Home* *What We’re Learning* *With your child: *Please help your child complete their homework every night and send back to school. *Go over table manners and respecting adults and peers. *Please remember to send your child in sneakers on PE days. *Continue to talk about school bus rules and school rules. *Practice counting and writing numbers *Read 2-3 books daily . *Go over uppercase and lowercase letters. *English/Language Arts This month we will work on beginning sounds along with sight words, and being able to start a sentence with a capital letter and name end punctuation. We will continue learning about the elements of a story (characters, setting, etc.) and describing the beginning, middle, and end of a story. In writing, we will be working with predictable sentences connected to our science and social studies activities. Look out for some awesome work to come home. *Math We will learn about patterns and all about teen numbers. We will continue to learn how to represent numbers in different ways. Counting practice is an ongoing skill that we will also work on. *Science We will start the month off learning about physical science and put on our STEM badges to learn about Scientific Inquiry/Engineering. We will then talk about Pumpkins which will lead us into life cycles of plants. *Social Studies We will learn about goods and services and all about community helpers.
