2 Where am I from? I was born in Walsall in the West Midlands.
I currently live in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham

3 My background Graduated in Forensic Psychology with honours
I work for the ISSP as a Project Officer Co-ordinate the arts programme Co-ordinate corporate communications for the team I track and surveil the activities of young offenders allocated to the ISSP I work to show young people positive and alternative lifestyles. I help young people with many different issues and challenges they face, without institutionalising them to my support. I previously worked within Birmingham Social Services and within Walsall Councils Homeless section I am an Abstract visual artist I also have sales experience Which I hope helps me sell this presentation to you!

4 ISSP: What is it? ISSP is the Youth Justice Board’s (YJB) National programme for prolific and serious young offenders ISSP is a rigorous community based programme that offers the courts an alternative to custody ISSP is currently delivered by 50 schemes covering 119 Youth Offending Teams (YOT) in the UK ISSP combines: Supervision; an intensive focus on addressing the causes of offending Surveillance: robust surveillance designed to protect the community Tracking Electronic monitoring (tagging and/or voice verification) Intelligence led policing

5 ISSP: What is it? It’s the most rigorous non-custodial
Intervention available for 10 to 17 year olds. Young people are referred to the ISSP through the courts. Serious Offences i.e.; Robbery, Assault, fire arms, bladed article, or persistent offending Most young people will spend 6 months on the ISSP. The ISSP is included as a condition to run concurrently with court orders or as part of bail conditions. Provide an effective alternative to short custodial sentences…. which will also help manage the custodial population.

12 6 ISSP months Tagging/ Curfew months 3 First half of the ISSP: structured supervision of at least 25 hours per week including time during evenings and weekends. The second half the ISSP: structured supervision which maybe reduced in hours depending on progress made in the first 3 months. This will be up to the Programme Manager to decide. After ISSP has been completed you will attend a meeting with a Youth Offending Team Officer to complete the remainder of your Order.

Control: ‘The only person you have ultimate control of is yourself’. (EMPOWERMENT) Task; in a difficult situation how to be conscious of Behaviour escalators How you can make negative behaviour worse Behaviour de-escalators How you can calm down the situation There is one world and billions of people, the world doesn’t go around you, you go around the world. You need to figure out a way you can survive around billions of different people, to get through your life easier.
