1 Does Exercise Effect Memory?
Sample presentation for PSYC1000

2 INTRODUCTION What effect does exercise have on memory?
How much exercise do you need to notice a significant difference in memory? How does exercise effect memory? Exercise-physical activity performed by movement using skeletal muscles that results in the release of energy.

3 Direct and Indirect Effects of Memory
Reduces insulin resistance Lessens inflammation T riggers the release of chemicals Indirect Improves mood and sleep Stress and lack of sleep cause cognitive impairment Ideally, 120 minutes of exercise per week is sufficient for minimal effect of improved memory.

4 Experimental Evidence
One group of rats had weights taped to their tails. Result: Increased levels of BDNF One group ran on wheels. Result: Increased levels of insulin like hormone. Conclusion: Aerobic and Resistance training

5 Conclusion Exercise does in fact positively effect memory.
It enhances brain metabolism. Exercise more! Not only does it help memory, but health as well! Start with a few minutes a day, and increase the amount you exercise by five or 10 minutes every week until you reach your goal.
