The means and speed of travel influenced how humans migrated The distances of migration depended on the push and pulls involved

II. Internal/External Migration
Internal- Travel within a particular region Ex: rural to urban External- A complete change of region Ex: country to colony

III. Chain Migration People did not move in a single step
Undertook a series of movements Ex: Started as internal movement, then moved to external region Ex: European farmer moves from rural setting to city, then to a colony across the Atlantis

IV. Temporary Migration
Migration is not always permanent Often humans moved only for limited periods of time Seasonal workers Leaving for a few years and then returning home after earning wages
