Yr 7 Electronic Torch Unit
2
In order to achieve the standards set out in the curriculum, you are required to complete several tasks (CATs). When completed, these CATs make up a full unit of work and will be theory and prac based. You may use the booklet to complete the required work or you may present the work as a PowerPoint, Word Document, etc. Throughout the unit of work, you will follow the design process.
3
Throughout this unit of work you will gain knowledge, and develop your skills in the following:
Researching a design Tools and their uses Researching and Investigating Sketching/Drawing/Designing Electronic Circuits Production Processes Analysing and Evaluating Risk Assessment Planning and time-management CAD/CAM
4
Design Brief You are to design and make a Electronic Torch.
Part ! You are to design and make a Electronic Torch. You must follow the design process. CONSTRAINTS (MUST do): The torch needs to use a LED The torch body is to be constructed from pine The torch should be 110mm x 25mmx 30mm The torch should be powered by a 9V battery CONSIDERATIONS (YOUR choice): Type of Material Different Voltages Finish

TASK 2: Torch Cover Designs
Choose your favourite TARGET MARKET from task 1, come up with four design ideas for your torch cover that your TARGET MARKET will like. USE THE BOXES PROVIDED ON THE NEXT PAGES EXAMPLE DESIGN IDEA What do you like and dislike about this design? My target market is TEENS. I think that teen boys would really like this graffiti design. I don’t think that it would appeal to teen girls though. YOUR DESIGN MUST FILL THE BOX THIS IS HOW THE TORCH COVER WORKS

CAT8 SKILLS Self Evaluation
27
CAT 6: Evaluation Answer the following questions in a paragraph. THINK about……….. Have I ever been late to class? Do I always have the equipment I need (including shoes)? Do I use my class time well? What is my behaviour like………am I respectful? Do I make an effort to catch up with my work when I have had time off? Do I complete follow-up learning tasks? Do I always complete work to the best of my ability? What did I learn? What could I improve on next time? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
