11 Job Description This job consisted of many various tasks. The tasks that I had to preform while at this placement consisted of cleaning the bathrooms, showers, changerooms, carpets, the gyms floors and weights. When working you will get some experience with signing up customers (which is great for social skills) for gym memberships, showing them around the gym, and putting them through the gyms computer system.

13 School Links Responsibility - Through school I’ve learnt that it’s important to arrive on time and do what I’m told. These rules applied for my co- op placement as well. I tried to be there on time every day and follow through on the tasks I was assigned. Determination - Some days I didn’t want to wake up at go to co-op, but I knew that in order to learn skills and complete the course I needed to. I feel the same way about school some days. But I’ve learnt that there are going to be good and bad days so I should be determined to just get up and take on the day.

14 School Links Organization – Through the years I’ve learned that if your not organized in school it’s pretty hard to get anything done. It is the same for co-op, if I was sick I had to call my placement and a teacher. Getting log sheets handed in on time was hard sometimes. I was able to manage with some organization skills. Communication - When I was being trained for my co-op I sometimes didn’t understand and I had to tell them so they could explain/ show me in a different way. It’s the same if I don’t understand something at school. If you never ask you’ll never know. Managing Stress- In integration we learned about workplace stress. Sometimes co-op was stressful, but I learned ways to manage it and work through it.

17 Job Experience Pros: Cons:
Worked in an environment that is involved in the fitness picture. Got to see what you have to do in the work environment. Got experience dealing with customers and seeing behind the gym scene. Got to be involved in some of the brainstorming/planning for the expansion of the gym. Got experience working with employees in the gym. Cons: Got no real experience in the field I want to work in. Only real work experience I got was cleaning up for the gym.
