3 Louisiana Purchase James Monroe and Robert Livingston sent to talk with Napoleon about selling New Orleans 1803- Jefferson and US obtain vast territory from Mississippi River to Rocky Mountains This purchase almost doubles the size of the US Paid 15 million for 828,000 Square miles Great Purchase but contradicted Jefferson’s Principles
