Parts of Speech Superhero Edition

Nouns Naming words. People, places, things, and ideas.
Examples: cowboy, house, theatre, thought, kindness, arrival Superman is going to help save the day.

Verbs Verbs describe an action (doing something) or state of being (being something. Examples: walk, sit, like, is, think, believe, be Underdog raced to the scene of the crime.

Adjectives Words that describe nouns. They tell you something about the noun they are describing. Examples: funny, boring, quick, sloppy, amazing, good The angry Hulk transformed when he heard the innocent children screaming.

Adverbs Words which describe verbs. They tell you how something is done. Can also describe adjectives. Examples: tomorrow, here, really, slowly, everywhere Mighty Mouse swiftly rescued the girl from the really intense fire.

Pronouns Words which take the place of a noun.
Examples: he, she, we, it, they Spiderman was on his way to get lunch when he sensed danger. Antecedent is the noun being replaced. (Spiderman)

Conjunctions Joins two words, phrases, or sentences together.
Examples: and, but, or, however, moreover Batman is chasing the tricky Joker and he won't stop until he catches him.

Prepositions Join nouns to other parts of the sentence.
Examples: on, in, with, under, through, at Wonder Woman raced through the tunnel next to the road before the bridge.

Interjections Words which generally stand alone and express emotion or surprise. Examples: hey, stop, ouch, hello Stop, the Flash commanded.

Articles Used to introduce nouns. Definite article: the
Indefinite article: a, an Iron Man will save the day.
