3 2019 WAIE Conference Pre-Conference Workshops: Thursday, April 11 (Full and Half-Day Workshops) Opening Reception: Evening of Thursday, April 11 Conference: Friday, April 12 Location: Fluno Center, UW-Madison Campus Early-bird date, registration deadline, and conference registration fees will also be announced soon!

Hong Rost Award, 2019 WAIE Conference grants, and WAIE Advocacy Day grant will open week of November 3 Deadline will be Friday, December 7 Announced by January 7 2019 WAIE Conference Proposals will open week of December 3 Deadline will be Friday, February 8 Announced by March 1

Emlyn Torres, Region V Advocacy Coordinator, came and talked with us! if you want to reach her. Key points from her half-day workshop: representative to find your local representatives Make a plan for voting day or vote early. Find something small to do and do it consistently.

8 Involvement in WAIE Small ways to get involved
Marketing (i.e., Facebook posts) Co-facilitate a What’s Up, Wisconsin call Recommend a new topic and/or help with an already planned call Apply for a conference grant and/or recommend others to apply Submit a conference proposal and/or recommend others to apply Nominate someone for the Hong Rost Award We are open to other ideas you may have! us at

9 Involvement in WAIE Bigger ways to get involved
Apply for the WAIE grant to attend NAFSA’s Advocacy Days in Washington, DC (March 2019) Apply to be the Conference Planner 1 year commitment Usually need to be located near the conference location. Apply for a leadership position when one opens up 3 year commitment

Think about WAIE conference proposal ideas Think about people to nominate for the Hong Rost Award Think about people you know who might be interested in applying for a WAIE conference grant or attending Advocacy Days (or yourself!)
