2 Why you should listen to me.

3 Lets make groups

4 Lets learn about each other.

5 Purpose

6 Team 1 : The JTE - tape recorder team.

7 Team 1 : The JTE - tape recorder team.
JTE leads everything ALT stands in to provide native pronunciation. Speak about positive aspects.

8 Team 1 : The JTE - tape recorder team.
Group discussion What is usually being taught in this situation? When in an ALTs career should we use this style? Get answers from groups. Basically we need to conclude something like this: Usually teachers are trying to rush through the text book - vocabulary is being taught. The JTE most likely goes with this because its the least they can expect from an ALT. Two or three uninterested ALT’s before you and the JTE might be in a set pattern. You will have to prove that you can do more than this. It may never change. Perhaps concentrate on other places where you can make a difference. Speech contests, making tests, storytelling contests etc.

9 Team 2 : The ALT entertainer - JTE supervisor team
Speak about positive stuff

10 Team 2: The ALT entertainer - JTE supervisor team
ALT leads everything JTE provides translation if needed and may control badly behaved students. Very likely that the JTE will depend on the ALT to prepare everything.

11 Team 2: The ALT entertainer - JTE supervisor team
Group discussion What is usually being taught in this situation? When in an ALT’s career can we use this style? Usually whatever the ALT wants to teach goes. This lesson can be re - used with almost every single class depending on their levels. It is likely that the ALT doesn’t come to the school everyday , there is not time to talk about anything. The ALT must prepare many lessons.

12 Team 3 : Professional colleagues team

13 Team 3 - Professional colleagues team
ALT and JTE meet to discuss the next lesson. ALT and JTE take turns leading different parts of the lesson.

14 Team 3 - Professional colleagues team
Group discussion What is usually being taught in this situation? When in the ALT’s career can they do this? Is there a time when we should not use this style? The textbook - ALT and JTE know exactly where they are in the textbook - what comes next - what has already been learnt. The JTE knows they can rely on the ALT to provide something relevant to the lesson - the ALT has proven themselves capable of making something useful - like a revision warm up based on previous lessons or a game related to the text book page. The ALT needs to keep the relationship going well.
