2 Vocabulary in Baptism research
Please note: these technical definitions are not always used as such by all churches. Sacrament – “a rite in which God is uniquely active.” – St. Augustine God does the action conveys spiritual grace through Christ to individual Ordinance – outward expression of faith of individual. A sacrament is seen as something in and of itself sacred; an ordinance is a practice that merely demonstrates the participants' faith.
