Role of Common application
The Common Application is a standardized admission application that can be used to apply to more than 500 common app member colleges and universities
The common application will need to be filled out and matched with the student’s naviance account.

Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life. Naviance and common app will be linked together and used in tandem when applying to colleges.

Students must sign up for common app and complete the profile, education, and ferpa waiver prior to matching.
Students must use the same in common app and naviance.

All students will complete a release authorization and make their selection

Students must complete the release and CA waiver before inviting an outside recommender or before submitting their application

Step 1- Click the “My Colleges” tab and choose release authorization
Step 2- Click the confirmation at the bottom of the screen.

Once the ferpa waiver, education and profile tabs are complete on common app, naviance can be matched
Matching will occur in the “colleges I’m Applying to” tab on naviance and a link will appear in pink at the top of the page

Students will enter their address and date of birth to confirm. The must be the same as common app.
*After completing common app material, it may take a bit for it to register in naviance- so you may not see the match option immediately
Error matching could be:
Incomplete education on common app
Incomplete profile on common app
Ferpa status incomplete on common app
Different addresses on common app and naviance

What is an e-doc school?
Whs is now classified as an e-doc school because transcripts, letters of recommendations, and the school profile can be electronically transmitted to colleges, universities, and the ncaa using naviance.

Teacher recommendations
Step 1- personally ask the teacher(s) to write a recommendation for your before you request them in naviance.
Step 2- Give the teacher a completed RAVE sheet
Step 3- go to the “college” tab on naviance, scroll down to “letters of recommendation”
Step 4- choose “add request” at the top of the page and select the teacher from the list.

Transcripts
Step 1- in naviance, under the “colleges” tab, add the college that you applying for to the “colleges I’m applying to” list
Step 2- request a transcript
*Prepare for it to be “pending”- all documents (recommendations & transcripts) will be sent at once.
