FINISH THE COLORING SHEET FROM LAST WEEK IF YOU DID NOT DO SO ALREADY! This should be the last coloring sheet (we are still waiting on mural materials to arrive!) If you did not turn in your sketch pad yesterday get this to me before we start notes! 6 things (bubble name, pop art item-colored, 3d hand-colored, roll a haring-colored, blue dog sketch, mural brainstorm)

4 Robert Wyland was Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1956.
He enjoyed art at an early age. He loved to draw dinosaurs at the age of 3.

5 When he was a child he saw a T. V
When he was a child he saw a T.V. program where Jacques Cousteau: (the Deep Sea Explorer)encountered whales. Wyland decided that he wanted to be a scientist and study marine life just like Captain Cousteau. Captain Cousteau is still the main influence in Wyland’s belief in caring for the environment.

6 In college, Wyland majored in painting and sculpting
In college, Wyland majored in painting and sculpting. His teacher in college encouraged to move to California to develop his art. Wyland took his advice.

7 He has painted 100 life size murals called the “Whaling Walls
He has painted 100 life size murals called the “Whaling Walls.” These murals span thirteen countries on five continents, and are viewed by an estimated 1 billion people every year. He has Art Galleries in- North Carolina South Carolina Nevada (Las Vegas) Alabama And several Galleries in … California Florida and Hawaii

His first life size mural was painted in 1978. 1st wall “Gray Whale and Calf” It was completed on the side of the Hotel Laguna

17 “Hands Across the Oceans”
The last Whaling wall was created in Beijing, China to celebrate the Green Olympics. It consists of 54 panels and is one of the world's longest murals at 2,430 Feet Long x 10 Feet High. Thousands of children helped Wyland over a two week period, and the mural features habitats and wildlife of all 205 Olympic-member countries
