3 Internet Internet: is comprised of a vast number of connected computers distributed across the world. The name “Internet” was derived from “International Network”. The Internet connects the world together.

4 Internet Some Available Services via the Internet:
Electronic Mail: is used to enable messages between the net users. File Transfer Protocol (FTP): is used to transmit large files. Mailing Lists: is a group of accounts require or desire to receive from the sending party. News Groups: are communities within the internet where people of like interests are able to meet to discuss, exchange opinions, ideas, …. WWW: is An abbreviation of World Wide Web. It enables the exchange of all forms of electronic communications on a global scale.(Audio, visual, and audiovisual)

5 Internet Advantages of the Internet: Unlimited Communication.
Many Information and Resources. Easy Sharing. Online Services and E-commerce. Entertainment.

6 Internet Disadvantages of the Internet: Visiting immoral sites.
Protecting Intellectual property is difficult to control. Negative cultural and social effect.

7 Internet Some important terminologies of the Internet:
HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language): is the web pages writing and designing languages. Web Browser: is dedicated program to surf, and navigate the Internet sites to view the content. For example: Internet Explorer, and Google chrome program. URL (Uniform Resource Locator): is the reference of the web pages. Upload: is the process of transferring files from the computer to the Internet. Download: is the process of transferring files from the Internet to the computer.

It is the reference of the web pages. Internet Site should consist of the following parts : Domain name . Domain Designator. Country code Hyper Text Transfer Protocol ( this shows it is an Internet address. www stands for World Wide Web. This is called the domain name. Often the domain names are shortened. The group that owns the server is the domain designator (.gov). Country code, Such as SA=Saudi Arabia, AE=United Arab Emirates, UK= United Kingdom.

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol ( this shows it is an Internet address. www stands for World Wide Web. This is called the domain name. the domain name is Shaqra University are shortened to SU. The domain designator (.edu = university). Country code, SA=Saudi Arabia.

10 Email Email: It is abbreviation of Electronic Mail.
It is used for exchanging information from one party to another. Exchange: documents, presentation, photo, ..

11 Email Email: The Email address has 3 main parts: UserName @ domain.com
User name Or account name. @  sign. Domain name: service Provider name that host your .
