2 Agriculture VA economy depended on agriculture as primary source of wealth Tobacco was most profitable cash crop Cash crop -grown to sell for money rather that for use by the growers Tobacco was sold or traded in England Tobacco required a reliable and inexpensive source of labor Virginia became dependant on slave labor
