This shows how jack was still innocent. Although he pretends to be brave, he still couldn’t kill a living thing no matter how much he boasts.

The use of the word “unbearable” shows the boys’ innocence at this point in the story because they can’t bear the sight of blood which could be due to the fact that they haven’t had any experience with the situation that they’re in. It also highlights their feelings towards the matter.

Edward is new to mickeys language. Shows how naïve he is.

Edward wants to learn to be like mickey.
Edward has more mature dialect compared to mickey which shows how their upbringings have been varied.
Shows the difference in their upbringings
Edward could be beginning to see mickey as a role model because of how different their personalities are.
Mickey and Edward like each other a lot which could be because of how different they are and also may be because mickey is happy to be friends with a new person rather than his siblings.
