10 Discipline Changes have been made to the Desoto County School Code of Discipline. Please review this on the county website.

11 Breakfast/Lunch Breakfast is served daily from 7:05 until 7:30
You are allowed to eat with your child for lunch. Please park in the front of the school. You MUST check into the office and receive a visitor pass. If you are checking your child out after lunch; you must first go back to the office. You will then check your child out and they will be called up to office after you have completed check out. If you check your child out before 1:00 PM they will be counted absent for the day.

12 Student Absences A total of 7 absences may be excused by a parent note. All excuses must be attached to the parent note form. Please fill out completely. All excuses must be in within two days after the absence.

13 Checking In and Checking out
After 7:35 Car Riders are to be dropped off at the front of the school. No students should ever be dropped off in the front before 7:35. After 7:40 AM, You must park and bring your child inside to get a tardy pass. There are no checkouts or transportation changes after 2:00 each day. If you need to make transportation changes you must send in a written letter, to the teacher, or a fax for documentation purposes. This is for the student safety. We will not take changes over the phone. School dismissal begins at 2:20

14 Checking In and Checking Out, Continued……
You must present a photo ID to visit or check out a student. Please make sure that anyone who may check out your child is listed with us. If a person is not listed, we will not allow them to visit or check out the student (Make sure that any custody issues are known and that we have legal documentation on file).

15 Contact Information Please make sure that all phone numbers are up to date. If you change your number please provide the front office a new contact number. If you move, please provide residency to Mrs. Tammy Shipp, MSIS Clerk.

16 Inclement Weather All school closings will be announced on the local news stations and on the official DCS social media accounts. Early dismissal will be announced as above and by an automated calling system. Please be sure you have a plan in place for child care and pick up during early dismissal days.

17 Field Trip Information
Check with homeroom teachers to see if parents are allowed on a particular trip. You must be pre-approved and be listed on the travel list. Parents must go in their own transportation. Students are required to travel on the bus. You are not allowed to check your child out on the trip. You will have to return to school to check them out.

18 Money for Field Trips Please send all money with your child to be receipted by the homeroom teacher. If you must bring money to the school, you will need to place it in a sealed envelope with the student and teacher’s name on it. The receptionist will give the envelope to the teacher. All money received after 9:00 AM will receive a receipt the next day.

19 Communication with Teachers
is the best way to reach our teachers or administrative staff. If you have a concern, It is always best to connect the teacher first. If you need a conference, the teacher to set this up. Please give the teacher at least 48 hours notice for a conference. When ing for a conference, provide the teacher with some information as to what the conference will cover. If you need an administrator to sit in, please state that. No conferences on Wednesday or Friday afternoons.

20 Allergies and Medical Concerns
Please make sure that the homeroom teacher is aware of any medical issues, allergies, or dietary restrictions. Please ensure that you have an asthma, seizure, or allergy plan, and medicine form on file, if needed. This must be signed by the parent and the doctor. Over the counter medicines must have a doctor’s order. All doctor prescribed medications must have a label on them from the pharmacy with the doctor’s prescribed orders.
