carbohydrates, lipids, proteins Animals are energy consumers, they eat these organic molecules in their food digest food to get fuels for energy (ATP) We eat to take in the fuels to make ATP which will then be used to help us build biomolecules and grow and move and… live! heterotrophs = “fed by others” vs. autotrophs = “self-feeders”

Cellular respiration: a chemical reaction the breaks down sugar (food) to produce ATP Occurs in mitochondria Requires oxygen Aerobic respiration Respiration release energy the cell can use Movement of hydrogen atoms from glucose to water Label the mitochondria in your notes!
