Define the different types of governments (i.e., democracy, communism, monarchy, and dictatorship).

3 Absolute Monarchy King or Queen has absolute authority (total power)
Ruled by King or Queen King or Queen makes all the decisions Throne is inherited—must be of royal blood

4 Absolute Monarchy May have another governing group like Parliament, but Parliament holds no power In power until death or until they step down Rich people did have some power in such as limited role in government and holding high positions in the military Belief they received power through the Divine Right to Rule—God gave them the power

5 Constitutional Monarchy
King or Queen but does not have full power Throne is inherited—must be of royal blood Acts as head of state but under a written or non written Constitution Belief they received power through the Divine Right to Rule—God gave them the power Authoritarian Control government Control the economy Allow some freedoms Totalitarian Total control of a person’s life Total control of the nation

6 Constitutional Monarchy
Work with other government body of the country like England’s Parliament Still considered the chief executive In power until death or until they step down Sometimes acts only as a symbol for such things as ceremonial duties Ruled by King or Queen Authoritarian Control government Control the economy Allow some freedoms Totalitarian Total control of a person’s life Total control of the nation 6
