October 15 & 16, 2015 Do Now: In your journal, write about what you see in the picture. Think about setting, characters, and events. Is there a conflict? What is it? Agenda: Narrative Writing Review and Practice You will need your journal and a pen/pencil.

2 Read the short Narrative to the students
Read the short Narrative to the students. The narrative is about a roller coaster ride. Have the students point out what the writer did to make the narrative interesting.

4 Now It’s Your Turn Imagine you are in the picture: Brainstorm:
Who is there with you? (characters) What is happening? (events) What is the weather, time of day, time of year? (describe it) (Setting) What is the conflict? (problem) Who is this conflict between? How do you want to end the conflict? (resolution) Show this before showing the picture, then show the picture and read the questions off one at a time allowing about 2 minutes between questions.

5 Beginning, Middle, End Using your brainstorm, now determine the order of your narrative. In your journal, Draw the graphic organizer Put your story in order (beginning, middle, end) A bulleted list is fine You have 5 minutes for this take
