1 8/15/14 Homeroom Put things you don’t need in your locker. GO GET BREAKFAST BEFORE YOU COME IN THE CLASSROOM. Turn in any paperwork to the ELT homework box. Eat your breakfast and read quietly. Breakfast is over at 9:15! You will transition to your first connection. Second period = second connection. Third period = ELT. Please, write your new schedule in your AGENDA and keep it on you ALWAYS!

2 8/15/14 E.L.T In your InterActive Reader & Writer workbook: Finish pages 10-11. Once you have finished, take the assessment on page 12. Then, compare answers with an elbow partner. After that, come to a consensus (agreement) with your group. We will review as a class. The winning group will receive one vending machine pass per person!

3 8/15/14 E.L.T – Closing Session Your final tasks for E.L.T.: Short response – p. 13 Test-Taker’s Toolkit – p. 13 You may work with a partner (from your group) or by yourself.

4 8/15/14 Language Arts Warm Up/Opening Session Turn in your homework to the correct box. In your Interactive Notebook, Journal: Remember your favorite childhood story. Who are the characters in the story? What happens in the story? Where and when does it take place? What problem is presented and resolved?

5 8/14/14 Essential Question: What helps us to determine the meaning of a word? Standard: ELA.6L.4.b – Use common, grade-appropriate Greek or Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word (e.g., audience, auditory, audible).

6 8/14/14 Language Arts Work Session In your Reader’s Journey workbook: Use page 15 to help you create your flipbook on prefixes. We will watch Pendamonium’s “The Italian Job” on prefixes. Essential Question: What helps us to determine the meaning of a word?

7 8/14/14 Closing Session  Prefixes Popcorn!  Write one of the prefixes (just the prefix, not a whole word) that we practiced today on your slip of paper and make a paper ball out of it.  Hold on to it until I say go!  Homework: Hidden Message Puzzle  Both sides are due tomorrow.
