Writing a Memoir (another name for your humorous story) Characteristics of a Memoir  A memory: description of an event from the past (Brainstorm list)  Written in “first person” (what is first person?)  Told from one person’s point of view (perspective)  Based on the truth, or a real event  Reveals the feelings of the writer  Has meaning; shows what the author learned from the experience  Focused on one event; takes place at one point in the author’s life  About the author’s experience more than about the event (what does this mean?)

5. What is a Good Idea for a Memoir?
