1 I can describe how raw materials move to the United States from less developed Latin American countries. What is a L.D.C.? A less developed country is a country where the infrastructure is less advanced and people’s wages are much lower. In a LDC, most people work in jobs producing raw materials, or in manufacturing.

PRODUCING MANUFACTURING SERVICE Growing and/or extracting raw materials from the earth Examples: Commercial farming Coal, gold, or mining of other minerals Cattle herding *Why is subsistence farming NOT an example of a production industry? Turning raw materials into a new product Clothing factories Food product plants Oil refineries Performing a job that provides a service to people Medicine Retail stores Teaching/Education Entertainers Restaurants Counselors Lawyers Firefighters Landscapers
