2. GMO’s in Golden Rice
Golden rice Humanitarian Board and the golden rice network are the companies of this gmo food.
Golden Rice originates from the genes of two Daffodils and a bacteria which make the gene modification Carotene.
The golden rice is still in development.

3. Benefits/Goals of the Modification
The goals of the modification are to improve the nutrients of children that didn’t have a viable source of Vitamin A.
250 million pre-school children are affected by VAD (Vitamin A Deficiency)
If provided to children it could prevent about a third of all under age five deaths which amount to 2.7 million children.

4. Issues/Concerns related to this GMO
VAD can lead to numerous negative health effects such as dry eye or even blindness if untreated.
VAD can also reduced immune system response and cause an increase in the risk of infection.
