3 Why are we here? Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) formally No Child Left Behind requires that each Title I school hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of… Informing you of your school’s participation in Title I Explaining the requirements of Title I

4 What does it mean to be a Title I School?
Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely intervention staff/programs/materials/supplies Conducting Family Engagement meetings/trainings/activities Professional Development How did our campus become a Title I school? - Free and Reduced Lunch numbers Discuss: How being in a Title I school means more money to help students who are struggling in school - Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist students at the school. Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist parents. Important: Parents should leave the meeting being able to answer the following question: What does it mean to be a Title I school? (They should be able to answer the question and give a couple of examples of how Title I funds are being used at their school.)

5 Family Engagement Policy
Spring Garden’s Family Engagement Policy is our plan for the year to provide family engagement activities for our school to improve student achievement. Parent Involvement Opportunities: School Curriculum/MOOSE Night Reading/Writing/Math/Science Nights Grade Level Events and Activities Parenting Partners Workshop (Located on the school website)

6 SGE Family Compact We are also required to have a Family Compact. A compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement. Our Family Policy and Compact are reviewed annually with parents, teachers and staff.

7 Spring Garden Elementary
Our ultimate goal at Spring Garden Elementary is to increase student achievement, performance, and progress for all students in all subject areas. Spring Garden developed a Campus Improvement Plan (CIP), which serves our entire school in meeting this goal. Provide instruction by highly qualified staff Use researched based instructional strategies Maximize the amount of learning time Work to increase family engagement

8 Highly Qualified Staff
All teachers at Spring Garden are highly qualified (hold valid Texas teaching certificates). Teachers and staff attend professional development that prepares them to teach to high standards.

Reading 3-D Grades K-2 DIBELS: TRC: 92% STAAR Math Reading Grades 3-6 87% 82%

10 Spring Garden Safety Measures
Doors open at 7:10 a.m. daily; locks at 3:15 p.m. daily Students are tardy at 7:50 a.m. After 7:50 a.m., check students in/out through office All visitors sign in to Positive Proof and get a visitor pass from office when on campus; return pass to office prior to leaving campus. Parents must have a Driver’s License.
