The No Child Left Behind Act of requires that each Title I School hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of… Informing you of your school’s participation in Title I Explaining the requirements of Title I Explaining your rights as parents to be involved

4 What is Title I? Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these student’s meet the State’s challenging content standards. Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers Being a Title I school also means parental involvement and parents’ rights including Parents Rights to Know.

5 Mimosa is a School Wide Title I Program
Back to School literature included detailed information regarding Title 1 status and can be found in the office and in the Parent Resource room. Poverty Rate : 40% or more of our population receives free and reduced lunch which makes us eligible for federal grant money under the No Child Left Behind Act, now called ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) Mimosa is 93% Free and Reduced lunch
