1 Some Review for the test
Gabriela Moreno R. Alumna Practicante Pedagogía en Inglés.

2 Let’s start with Reported Speech
When we use reported speech, we are usually taking about the past (because obviously the person who spoke originally spoke in the past). The verbs therefore usually have to be in past too. For example: Sara: “I’m going to the cinema” Sara said that she was going to the cinema.

3 Something You MUST know!
The tense on the left changes to the tense on the right : Simple present Simple past Present continuos Past continuos Present perfect Past perfect Future Will/Won’t Modal verb Would/wouldn’t

4 Now …… Let’s practice! I’m a teacher He said that he was a teacher
She is having lunch with her parents Mary said that she was having lunch with her parents He has been to France three times He said that he had been to France three times We will eat unhealthy food He said that they would eat unhealthy food

5 What about 1st Conditional?
We use the first conditional to talk about actions or events in the future which are likely to happen or have a real possibility of happening. For example: If Tara is free tomorrow, I will invite her to drink something.

6 Remember!!! IF CLAUSE= IF + SUBJECT( he,she,we they…)+SIMPLE PRESENT
MAIN CLAUSE= SUBJECT+ WILL+ VERB

7 Now let’s do some exercises
If you look in the fridge, you …. will find some vegetables. If you study hard, you …… will get a good mark. If you eat your sandwiches now, you …… won’t have anything for lunch. You will be safe in an accident, If ……. you wear your seat bealt.

8 Finally we have 2nd Conditional
The second conditional is used to talk about things which are unreal (not true or possible) in the present or in the future, things which don’t or won’t happen. Example: If the weather were better, we would go to the park

9 You have to remember this!
IF CLAUSE = IF + SUBJECT + SIMPLE PAST MAIN CLAUSE = SUBEJCT + WOULD + VERB

10 Let’s practice! If I were in the Viña del mar, I ……
would go to Quinta vergara. If I had more money, I …… would buy a lot of new clothes. If they won the lottery, They ….. wouldn’t work anymore If she spoke spanish, we…… would understand her.
