2 Advantages and Disadvantages
Factories The north was able to produce supplies (self-sustain) Weapons and uniforms The south was unable to self-sustain (they did trade with Europe) Railroads North could produce goods and ship goods South had not developed railroads

3 Advantages and Disadvantages
Population 22 million lived in the north 9 million lived in the south More soldiers and factory workers for the north Military officers South was able to gain Robert E. Lee, who was Lincoln's first choice to led the north Lee from the south choose to fight for the south Not only Lee, but other top military officers joined the south

4 Advantages and Disadvantages
Experienced Government North had a stable government South just formed a government They were fighting for their lives Their lifestyle was in jeopardy They knew nothing else The north were not as "into it" Northerners were not in complete agreement

5 North War Strategy Initial attempt was to win the war early
Bull Run and Vicksburg early failures The strategy changed (Anaconda Plan) Blockade the coast Control the Mississippi River (cut the south in half) Devastate the south (ruin their economic capabilities) Capture Richmond (capitol) Ultimately end the war
