3 Texture is the surface quality of an object.

4 Texture can be used to create, and is related to, value and form
Texture can be used to create, and is related to, value and form. It appeals to the senses of vision and touch.

5 Texture is “tactile,” meaning it appeals to our sense of touch.

6 Texture is also visual, meaning it influences to our sense of sight, it is often “implied”.

7 Symbolic textures is just another way to identify implied textures.
Texture: wavy lines could symbolize water, waves, rolling terrain Texture: overlapping circles give the look of fish scales Texture: a grid of lines could simulate plaid or linen fabrics, wire mesh, or other textures
