Aboriginal Culture Key Aspects in Their Culture By: Reginald B. Turner II

2 The Dreamtime is Culture
Aboriginal culture greatly depends on the mythology of the Dreamtime. The Dreamtime was a time long ago when there was a bunch of astral beings on the earth. Each Aboriginal tribe is connected to an ancestor. If you honored your ancestor you were smiled upon. If you dishonored them not so much.

3 Food Gathering Relating to Culture
With the Aborigines food gathering is very close to culture because culture dictates when, where, and why they hunt. The women go out and gather fruit such as yams but not all of the yam. They always put some back. One Aboriginal woman said, “ We always [put] some back, if [we] harvest it all the yam spirit will get mad, if we put some back he stays happy and makes more yam.”,. That is how food gathering is closely related to culture

4 Corroberees Relating to Culture
The Aboriginal people have a special party daily. This special party is called a coroberee, a corroberee also gathers tribes to talk about the dreamtime. A coroberee may have only the host tribe or maybe three tribes together. A Coroberee can have both men and women of the tribe or just the men and boys ready to become men. A daily Corroberee always has tribal dancers wearing headdresses fashioned as their tribes ancestors

5 Food Cooking Relates to Culture
You probably won’t believe this but religious laws also govern the way you prepare, cook, and eat foods. These rules serve a purpose of course. One purpose is that certain nuts and plants are uneatable if not prepared correctly. For instance, some nuts must be leached in water to remove toxins and the shells of grass seeds must be removed before eating.
