1 How to set up your vade mecum

2 Let’s get started… Print your name on the cover page
If you have a clear insert on the front of your binder, you can put the cover page in there! Label and organize your tabs now OR Cover page Table of Contents Unit 1 Vocabulary Book notes/class notes Assignments Labs Other Unit 2 Etc. Appendices Cover page Table of Contents Class notes Unit 1 Unit 2 Etc. Book notes/Class notes Assignments Labs Other Appendices

3 Book notes & exercises Each Unit will have reading requirement.
Your responsibility is to read assigned material and take the appropriate book notes prior to instruction. You will also be given book exercises to complete prior to instruction to get you thinking about the material. These will be checked prior to instructions. Reference examples in the vade mecum

4 Class notes This is where you expand upon your book notes during instruction. Keep your notes organized and associated with your book notes.

5 Labs Structure will be different based on the lab
Formal Labs – full lab write up (100pts with pre-lab) Informal Labs – designed more like a worksheet (50pts with pre-lab) Please use the reference sheets and rubrics in the Vade Mecum to help you and ask questions as you go along!

6 Labs Lab section should be for: Grading Rubric is in the Appendices
Pre-Labs Reference to specific lab (guides) Rough drafts (procedures, IV, DV, etc.) Recording raw data Writing observations Practicing calculations Sketching graphs (when necessary) All other material or notes for the specific lab Grading Rubric is in the Appendices

7 Appendix Contains important reference material Data booklet
Periodic table, physical constants, etc. This booklet is used extensively in DP Chemistry classes and worth getting familiar with. Common ion chart Rubrics You may add to the appendix throughout the semester

8 Vade mecum Grading You Vade Mecum will be graded at each unit test.
A rubric for grading can be found in the appendix. You must have your Vade Mecum with you every class and be vigilant about keeping up with the notes, exercises, labs, etc. Failure to have your Vade Mecum at the time of the unit test will result in a zero.
