Welcome! The goal of the webinar is to provide an overview of the Statewide Standard Course Code mapping process. We will begin the webinar shortly Dial in number is Data Pipeline support is

What are Statewide Common Course Codes? Why we are doing this? History Documentation How to replicate courses? Questions?

5 Goal Districts map local course codes to a statewide standard course code Provides common course codes across the state Makes communication easier when talking about courses Transcripts

6 Clarification Districts are not required to change their local course codes. Districts should map to the best choice for the statewide standard course codes All courses should be mapped District courses where educator has an EDID are the priority Concurrent enrollment and preschool are lower priority

7 What are Statewide Common Course Codes ?
Based on the Secondary School Course Classification System: School for Exchange of Data (SCED) National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) U.S. Department of Education Five digit common codes for all courses PK-12 First two digits subject area Last three digits content

8 What are Statewide Common Course Codes ?
Majority of subject areas are covered Secondary (Middle School and High School) Over 1800 course codes Subject areas Prior-to-secondary (Elementary and Middle School) About 500 codes Subject areas 51-73

14 Why do we need course codes?
Transcripts Courses are the link between teacher and student Required for teacher student data link Teacher student data link interchange is open Teacher student data link snapshot opens in April All districts are required to map courses

15 History In 2012-2013 school year all districts mapped courses
some districts maintained their courses all districts need to map courses Simple process of replicating course codes forward to the current year Export courses and update the mappings and reload Complete by March 26th

17 How do I map courses codes for 2014-2015 school year?
Districts can copy work forward from or school year to the school year. Upload a file from information system extract Ongoing process Adjust codes as necessary

18 Replicate course code demo
Replicate course codes – (QA link for demo) Export course mappings and reupload Export course mappings Change in Excel Export to tab delimited Upload into the system QA system for demonstration
