There will usually be at least several days of training. The employee may be paired with an experienced co-worker, or mentor. A mentor answers questions and helps the new employee solve problems and build confidence for the new job.

Managers work closely with their employees to make sure work goals are being accomplished as planed. Every employee is expected to meet quality standards as well as work efficiently. Employees must demonstrate effective working relationships with co-workers.

Family leave: policies allow employees to take a leave from work for family related issues Birth, Adoption, Care for sick family member, etc. More on job sharing each person works part time schedules, they share the work and the work space. Some of these strategies for improving work-life relationships cost companies very little. Others do have a cost but often result in reduced absenteeism, lower employee turnover, and happier more productive employees.

19 Continued Flextime: Allows employees some choice in how their work schedules. Job Sharing: Offers one job to two people. Flex place: that some employees can complete some or all work away from work.

Some of the largest unionized occupations are government, education, health care, public safety, and hospitality. Collective bargaining. Michigan now RIGHT –TO – WORK state What does that mean? VIDEO Collective Bargaining- formal negotiation between members of both groups. Unions help keep skills up to date, employee assistance if a business cite closes, improve quality.
