6 And we look like this… The STEMIE Coalition has banded together over 40 people from more than 30 affiliate organizations to work together to grow an innovative community dedicated to bringing STEM and Entrepreneurship together through the process of inventing. -Roughly 75% of STEMIE program affiliates, employees, and volunteers are female. -Over half of STEMIE affiliates, employees, and volunteers hold advanced degrees in education or a STEMIE relevant field. -STEMIE is actively working on broadening its team’s diversity Oct © The STEMIE Coalition All Rights Reserved 11/24/2018

11 All in All: What STEMIE has achieved in two years

1. STEMIE is expanding into regions important to UTC Indianapolis, Indiana – Program already up and running in 20 school districts West Palm Beach, Florida – Florida affiliate partner secured, primed for work with Cassandra Brooklyn, New York – Inroads prepared Charlotte, North Carolina – Inroads prepared 2. STEMIE is partnering with organizations important to UTC Society for Women Engineers American Geosciences Institute (Helping us create sustainability curriculum) Purdue University 3. 15 Why is STEMIE Important?
Students aren’t learning how to apply STEM skills. Only 43% of students are proficient at applying STEM in the real world Only 18% for African American students Research shows project-based learning is needed. Project-based learning (PBL): learning by doing When combined with technology, PBL helps ensure that motivation and thought are sustained Early evidence shows STEMIE works. STEMIE Funding Request: $250,00 for FY2018 $75,000 to support NICEE 2018 $50,000 for Program Assessment STEMIE is seeking $250,000 from UTC for FY2018: 125,000 for Program Support 100,000 to launch programs in Brooklyn, West Palm Beach, and Charlotte 25,000 to support Indianapolis (matched by STEMIE) 75,000 for NICEE sponsorship 50,000 for Program Assessment Without UTC, STEMIE would never have gotten here.
