12 Example: First, one of the problems with scientific studies is that they are paid for by biased sources. According to the text, “some scientists who do these studies are paid by the beverage industry” (page 1). The text also states that only 3 in 100 studies paid for by the beverage industry marked the trend between soda and health problems (page 1). This evidence shows that the soda companies are paying the scientists and the results lean towards favoring the unhealthy drink. Clearly there is a problem with scientific studies being biased. EXAMPLE #1: In 2 different colors, locate the “tell me’s” with 1 color and the “show me’s” with another color. Label them off to the side.

14 Directions: Choose a text Read the text
Come up to the front and grab the 3 topic sentences that go along with your text. -Highlite topic sentence #1 with one of your crayons -Find evidence in the text that supports topic sentence #1 and highlite w/ the same color -Do this same thing for topic sentence #2 and #3. 4. Create your body paragraphs on the small piece of papers you ripped off. 5. Staple all together when finished.
