DPS’ top Denver Plan 2020 goal is to ensure Great Schools in Every Neighborhood Title I Mandatory Parent Meeting

2 All Title I funds support a standards-based education
Title I Schools receive federal money to help increase student achievement. The Unified Improvement Plan- Title I addenda must clearly define how Title I money will be spent All Title I funds support a standards-based education 1% of the district’s Title I budget will be distributed to schools for parent involvement. You have the right to have input as to how this money is spent. Title I: Our school has a high number of students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Price Lunch. The Unified Improvement Plan must clearly define how Title I money will be spent to support our students. All funds support a standards based education. Progress is monitored on the Denver Public Schools Standards Based Progress Report (SBPR) each trimester. 1% of district’s Title I budget will be distributed to schools for parent involvement. Parents have the right to have input as to how this money is spent. We Are a Title I School

3 If your school is Title I, you have the right:
Title I schools have a high number of students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Price Lunch. If your school is Title I, you have the right: To know the qualifications of the teachers in your school, you will receive a letter of notification in the Fall if your child is being taught by a teacher who does not meet the federal requirements. To know how we are improving student performance. The Parent Compact is an agreement between the school and families to improve student performance. The Parent Compact is part of our school Unified Improvement Plan and will be shared with you during the first trimester. To know how our school is performing. Our rating for the school year is [INSERT RATING HERE.] Parents and Families have the “Right to Know” under Title I. Qualifications of teachers: families will receive a letter of notification in the fall if their child is being taught by a teacher who doesn’t meet federal requirements. Improving student performance: Parent Compacts are agreements between the school and a family to improve student performance. The Parent Compact is part of the Unified Improvement Plan, and will be shared w/ families during the first trimester. If new SPF has not been released by time of meeting please use most recent SPF data available, Title I uses prior year data to determine supports to schools. Briefly explain to parents how SPF is determined and how they can support your school to increase performance. Right to Know

4 Title I schools with a Priority Improvement Plan or Turnaround Plan.
Supplemental Services are provided to certain schools to help increase student performance. Who? Title I schools with a Priority Improvement Plan or Turnaround Plan. Students in 1st – 12th grade who score unsatisfactory or below grade level on standardized assessments in reading or math. *******Only share slides 4 and 5 if your school in on priority improvement or turnaround status.****** Supplemental services are provided to students through: Traditional DPS Elementary and Middle Schools: Math/Literacy Fellows Program High Schools & Charter Schools: Private Tutoring companies Supplemental Services

5 SchoolChoice process opens in January for the upcoming school year.
