13 About Deborah … Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with 20+ years of HR management and professional services to government, non- profit and private industry clients. Ms. Stallings is owner and president of HR Anew, a multi-million dollar certified HE consulting firm. Her expertise includes recruitment and retention strategies, training facilitation, human resource management, manager and employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, career counseling, employment records management, employee surveys and exit interview studies.

32 Why do we need to Engage our Members? Chapter membership has declined across the board in the past couple of years. Retention of members has also declined. In business, we know holding onto our good client is just good business. It is easier to retain a current client than it is to find new ones and it costs less. Retaining and engaging our members will benefit members and the chapter in the long run. For our corporate partners. They want to get in front of women business owners. Where better than NAWBO???

34 Phoenix Chapter President – Lynda Bishop Shares what Phoenix is doing to engage their members… Every member is called by a board members once a month. Conduct member surveys. All current Phoenix members were called and asked if they would like to contribute a gift or free service to the new member bags that were given to all new members who joined during the membership drive. Bags - $2000.00 Value!!! Neighborhood NAWBOs - Small groups that meet around our city once a month. Monthly coffee with the President. Two minute spotlight for a member to speak at the next months luncheon meeting. Buddy Program in which new members are matched up to an experienced NAWBO member for their first three months of membership. Welcome Meeting which is open to guests and members who want to know more about NAWBO. Community Service Project done at least quarterly with a local non-profit serving women our community.

We invite a different local womens professional group to join us to help us expand our networks and be seen as a community connector. Online Marketplace section on our website where members can post announcements, specials, events, etc. about their business for other members and guests to see. Chapter Social Media Pages (FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter). We look for members to highlight and announce exciting news (awards, recognition, press release kinds of things) about our members and our corporate partners (but do not use these for marketing purposes). Free AMFAM Business Accelerator program. Local Coach Chats Program. Utilizing NAWBO members who are certified coaches. Collaborating on a quarterly basis with our Arizona Sister Chapters – Tucson and Sedona. Weekly e-blast to members.

Peer to Peer networking, awards and recognition. Knowledge Circles (From Indianapolis Chapter). Alliances with other womens organizations; business programs and universities. Trade Show – once a year. Holiday Socials and Corporate Partner sponsored programs.
