Steering Committee Roles & Responsibilities Presidents Assembly Steering Committee is responsible for: Serving as “voice of the chapters” on the National Board and facilitating communications between National and the chapters Facilitating chapter collaboration/information sharing via webinars & meetings at national conferences Creating a community of chapter leaders Helping chapter leaders with strategic planning, problem resolution, etc. Appointing members to serve on the National Nominating Committee

The NAWBO PAC has been re-launched to provide NAWBO with a voice at the national level regarding issues affecting WBOs The all-new Online Legislative Action Center provides: Contact information for elected officials at the national, state, and local level Information about candidates running for election for national, state, and local offices The ability to subscribe to policy briefs & email alerts Advocacy toolkit Policy briefs on WBO & SB issues Legislative Action Center is available for all members and non- members PUBLIC POLICY

OBJECTIVES To increase and expand chapter support by providing tools to support our local chapters with improvements and updates on ongoing basis The all-new Online Chapter Resource Center provides chapters: Visual Resources and Instructional Presentations Bylaws and Policies Forms and Templates Chapter Best Practices Library Chapter Operations Manual National Strategic Plan Overview and Strategic Plan Templates All Chapter Board Members and Chapter Admin Staff have access to Online CRC. REGIONAL LEADERSHIP SUMMITS OBJECTIVES To provide chapters with an overview of the long-term strategic plan and priority objectives for NAWBO To provide access to chapter resources and capacity building opportunities To open and leverage direct line of communication and engagement between NAWBO and local chapters To offer networking opportunity between chapters at the regional level; and to share best practices amongst peers to support each other’s growth and success To collect pertinent data and information about local chapters

FUTURALLIA 2011 NAWBO is a Network Partner for this annual international conference for small & medium sized business enterprises Will be held in Kansas City on May 18-20, 2011 Expecting over 1,000 attendees Each registrant selects other attendees from catalog that they are interested in meeting, forum sets up 16 30-minute one-on-one sessions Exhibit hall plus plenty of networking time Ideal for companies interested in doing business internationally or looking for partnerships

DEVELOP POTENTIAL MEMBER SYSTEM Guest Orientation –Share NAWBO history –Explain the benefits of membership –Set them up with an experienced member to sit with them at meeting & introduce them Follow up after meeting to answer questions Invite to next meeting, if they haven’t submitted an application Once a member – New Member Orientation

MEMBER RETENTION Have a new member orientation, for example a breakfast Have a member be a buddy to a new member Always send e-mails to members about upcoming meetings and events Have President send out e-mail to members telling them what is going on in the chapter Spotlight Members at meetings

Divide outreach “touch” among different members, new and experienced.
