Presentation on theme: ""To promote local artists work on available billboard space""— Presentation transcript:

1 Art Pop is a loosely organized group within our industry - with a simple mission:
"To promote local artists work on available billboard space" Currently in Los Angeles there is an campaign posted called #ArtShareLA. We interviewed people about it and asked the question - What happens when you put art on billboards?

2 Roll Video (0:90 video with interviews held at Known Gallery - about the currently posted #ArtShareLA campaign. Very man-in-the-street, very positive. Shot in black and white. Feels raw, honest. Well-produced. In final edit now)

3 Similar efforts are happening organically across the country – self-starters within our ranks are helping artists make their mark in our medium…

4 It’s incredibly simple to do

5 Operators commit to donating unused static and digital space to promote local artists in their community

6 An OOH person takes on the job, embraces the assignment, and makes it happen. Often the initiative comes from the creative department.

7 Finding the content is easy
Finding the content is easy. After all, who doesn’t want to see their vision on a billboard? You can meet with a local arts organization in your community such as an Arts Council or Fine Arts Museum -  Within that organization they use their connections to get the word out and encourage artists to submit original designs in the form of posters, bulletins or digitals.

8 Provide the specs - your local art director can also help with technical questions…

9 Find a way to get it printed. Fundraise locally, whatever works
Find a way to get it printed. Fundraise locally, whatever works. Many printers offer discounted rates for art or non-profits. Art Pop also now has official non-profit status through Art Share LA and can route the space and production contracts - creating tax donation outcomes

10 Post in your market and watch people react, much like they did here in LA.

11 It’s important to note that none of this happens without the support of our membership – for this we humbly thank you. And the public thanks you. The feedback is unanimous. They love it. As do politicians, advertisers, lessors, students, ad agency art directors, and of course…artists. This type of service towards The People’s Space is more than a feel-good gesture to the arts. It attracts positive commerce through increased goodwill and a desire from the business community to participate in the conversation above the streets. Simply put, ArtPop brings more business. Going forward it will continue to grow as a movement. And we ask for your support across the board as we find our velocity on a national level, and prove that Out of home media has a right, a place and a purpose in the future of our advertising landscapes.
