2 Part I Review the following vocabulary terms and add them to your social studies notebook

3 Monopoly The sole possession or control of the supply or trade in a resource or service.

4 Exploitation the act of making some area of land or water more profitable or productive or useful the action of treating someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work.

5 Colonialism The policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically

6 Globalization A process by which regional economies, societies, and cultures have become integrated through a global network of communication, transportation, and trade

7 The White Man’s Burden The supposed responsibility of the white race to provide care for their non-white subjects

8 Indigenous Originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native

9 Interdependence People and/or businesses depending on or helping each other.

10 Imperialism A policy of extending a country's power and influence through government or military force.
