2 Students! Are You a Good Fit for Cambridge?
Are you an avid reader? Do you complete assignments thoroughly and on time? Can you work without constant monitoring by a teacher or a parent? Can you be assigned large blocks of work and be relied upon to complete them? Do you learn from mistakes? Are you curious about academic pursuits in general? Are you willing to commit to taking the most rigorous curriculum EHS offers? If you have answered, YES to the above questions, you should consider applying for the AICE Program There is a lot of high level reading in Cambridge. The volume of work, compared to 8th grade is significant. Teachers are not as forgiving in 9th grade.

3 What is Cambridge/AICE?
An international, pre-university program developed by the University of Cambridge in England Examinations have been offered for over 50 years in more than 160 countries and 10,000 schools (including 89 HS in Florida) AICE first offered in the US in 1995, and officially adopted in Florida in 2001 AICE-Advanced International Certificate of Education Estero High teachers are trained in the Cambridge Curriculum Students compete with others not only in the nation, but around the world.

4 Outstanding Learners In 2017, 45 students earned Cambridge’s Outstanding Learner award for achieving high marks on at least 3 exams in one series We had one student score the highest in the USA, for Sociology! The average GPA for Cambridge Seniors is 4.85 Last year, students earned over college credit hours All A’s or at least all B’s or at least all C’s. Cambridge grades range from a-e, with a C being equivalent to a B. E is equivalent to a 3 on an AP exam.

5 CAMBRIDGE ADVANTAGES Flexible path to an AICE diploma
Students achieving the AICE diploma, along with 100 hours of community service, earn the top level of the Bright Futures Scholarship to any Florida University and State College. Successfully completing the Cambridge Curriculum could provide up to 36 hours of college credit and even more with Dual Enrollment Students have an opportunity to tailor their studies to their individual interests, abilities and future plans within an international curriculum framework

6 High School Diploma Equivalent
The only diploma programs which fulfill a State high school diploma option are those offered by Cambridge and International Baccalaureate.

7 AICE and Dual Enrollment
Estero High School has a Dual Enrollment agreement with both FGCU and FSW. FGCU Requirements- FSW Requirements- If a student is on track to earn their AICE diploma, they may begin taking dual enrollment classes as early as their Sophomore or Junior year. Requirements- Composite score: 23 or above AND English score: 20 or above Reading score: 20 or above Math score: 20 or above   OR  SAT (taken March 2016 and after) Composite score (Evidence-based Reading and Writing combined):  1140 or above AND Evidence-based Reading and Writing:  500 or above Math score: 500 or above Math Test: 24 or above Writing and Language Test: 25 or above Reading Test: 24 or above   College Level Placement: MathCourseP.E.R.T.ACTSAT Prior to 3/1/2016SAT on or after 3/1/2016ACCUPLACERMAT 1033/MAT MAC 1105/STA MGF 1106/MGF MAC

8 Bright Futures Earning the AICE Diploma and completing 100 Community Service hours guarantees your child will earn the highest award possible regardless of SAT, ACT or GPA 2017 award for a 4yr university was full tuition plus $300 stipend for books.

9 Bright Futures Savings
By earning an AICE Diploma, Estero students who did not qualify for the Academic Scholar Award based on SAT/ACT scores, saved a combined total of $436,000. Academic Scholar Award – Over $26,000 Medallion Scholar Award - $12,360 SAT/ACT requirements SAT / 29 ACT 1170 SAT / 26 ACT

11 Requirements for Admission
Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 or above Grade 7 FSA ELA – Level 3 or above Grade 7 FSA Math – Level 3 or above Written response to essay prompt Copy of semester one report card Copy of Student Assignment zone application receipt Application is due by February 16th

12 Out of State or Private School Candidate Requirements
Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher State or Norm Referenced test results – must meet percentile rank equivalent to Level 3 Written Response to essay prompt End of year report cards from grades 6 through 7, and semester one report card from 8th grade Copy of Student Assignment zone application receipt Application is due by February 16th

13 Application Procedures
Complete a student assignment application with the Lee County School Assignment office Complete the Cambridge application and essay and return to Estero High School, along with your Student Assignment Receipt and latest report card, between January 22nd and February 16th. If all requirements are met and your child is accepted, you will receive a written notification mailed on March 9th and an on March 9th. Any student accepted into the AICE Cambridge program will not be officially assigned to Estero until an intent form is completed and returned to Estero High School by March 23rd.

15 FAQs…. Can my child also be enrolled in one of the other academies at Estero High School? Is there time for students to participate in music, clubs, sports, community service while in the Academy? How would my child do Dual Enrollment Classes?
