IBERTEC in figures/year:
Member of a big Poultry Genetics Group 60 million hatching eggs 36 million day old chicks 16 M turnover / 70 direct employees 60% Spanish market share. Regular business within EU Own transport vehicles Expertise of working with millions of alive “units” that never expend its life with us Animals use to live where they hasn’t born. “Nice”behaviour! Hundreds km. Thousands km. Genetic level xThousands
3
Context Yearly, 4 million cattle, 4 million sheep and goats, 10 million pigs, and hundreds million chickens are travelling between Member States or between EU and third countries. Council Regulation 1/2005 on animal welfare during transportation: Compulsory use of satellite navigation systems for new trucks (from January 2007) and for all trucks (from January 2009) performing long journeys (more than 8 hours), controlling mechanisms of: Temperature. Opening / closing of loading flap. Drivers, traders, keepers, and other transport operators involved. Welfare and specific management, able to be monitored and improved. Mandatory regulations for what Mandatory regulations for how and who Millions of animal moving worldwide. Just within the EU context. X5 if we consider far eastern areas. Some times mistakes (as shown). Tools to care that are welcome

Animal Welfare, Labor Safety, Productivity, Economy
Traking & Tracing Goals: Animal Welfare, Labor Safety, Productivity, Economy Not only welcome, but very welcome a system to help us to avoid it. There is not more interest at the Commission level than at the industry level. Thank you to help us to reach our goals: 1) Careness of animals, specially small ones 2) People involved will more safety working. Something else is doing the job while they sleep 3-4) We are enterprises! We also need to be alive. “Animal welfare”/“Companies welfare” to keep our Productivity So, thank you

Pilot 2: Livestock Tracking & Tracing
Objectives To demonstrate suitability and added-value of EGNOS (forecoming GALILEO) as satellite navigation system for livestock transportation as well as based solution with Regulation 1/2005. To demonstrate it compliance of to cover routes normally operated by transport operators involved in pilot (Ibertec, S.A.) To offer a cheap OBU subject to be shared with other applications (1 OBU – multiple services concept) To improve the today’s accuracy, availability and integrity as main EGNOS role in Tracking & Tracing for livestock To monitor animal welfare transport conditions and some other Commercial implications (logistic control) Epidemiology and Food Safety potential applications. Coordination with the existing Official methods of livestock movements control (TRACES) It’s not so easy for the developers: Following laws Not expensive Accurate, specially for emergency cases Able to the authorities to do their job. Those where the objectives, and those are close to be reached with the today’s designed prototipes

Pilot 2: Livestock Tracking & Tracing
The role of EGNOS (GALILEO) for Livestock Tracking & Tracing EGNOS (future GALILEO) proposed as satellite navigation to be used by vehicles subject to Regulation 1/2005 on the basis of differentiators: Improved accuracy Better availability Integrity => Need for position information guarantee (liability-critical application), in order to be penalised in case of lawbreaking. Thanks to MENTORE system for “Tracking & Tracing Services for Livestock Transport Management” and thanks to EGNOS (GALILEO)… IBERTEC will be able to: Track and Trace their livestock. Monitor for the welfare of their animals transported. The Authorities will be able to: Thanks to their specials privileges in the end user application and thanks to data integrity, they will be able to control and make use of the law in case of lawbreaking.

Pilot 2: Livestock Tracking & Tracing
For this demo, the next functions will be available: Localization and continuous tracking and tracing of the vehicles transporting livestock Display of last position received from each vehicle Automatic calculation of distance to programmed destinations Lists of vehicles near a point of interest or near other vehicles Notification of vehicles that do not complete their routes Notifications of vehicles going in and out of predefined zones Notification of vehicles going in and out of zones where there are focuses of epidemics. European coverage Positions displayed on the map and in text format Generation and sending of reports Reports of detailed information about the work carried out in the past by the fleet Reports built with positions and data received from the vehicles minute to minute Several types of reports: Summary reports with periods of driving and stops Reports with list of visits to selected points of interest Routes monitoring reports Incident reports Optimal route calculation Calculation of the optimal route by truck (avoiding certain zones like for example zones with focuses of epidemics) between: Any two selected cities Any two selected streets in the same or different cities, and in the same or different countries The current position of a vehicle and a city or a street in a city Messaging capabilities Geofencing: Alarming in case of deviation from a predefined route or violation of the programme to follow by the transporter. Alarming in case of cross over zones where there are focuses of epidemics. Recording of all data for statistical and enforcement / governmental use. This nice system _design by GMV_ is already giving us plenty of records notifications, typical navigation tools, routes, ect, and reports involved

Pilot 2: Livestock Tracking & Tracing
Previous Ibertec’s website Interface Previous experiences: Innovation. Marketing leadership. Quality perception in/out. Quality control. Accuracy at the previous production level Tracing “on line” Already experiences Out and In market aware of innovation. Quality can be traced from the beginning to the end ALSO by the costumers. We asked them to help us with the traceability At it worked!
10
Pilot 2: Livestock Tracking & Tracing
Actual Web Interface Expectations Website access Remote control Bi-directional information Further adds/inputs to me monitored Compliance with some other mandatory regulations. What we still expect: Very easy and “cosmopolitan” access to the system Remote control - Driver can not be the best specialist on management and welfare (they are drivers) Some more settings to me monitored (light?) Avoid some today’s local administrative restrictions for an “alive” market because alive animals (nr.hatched chicks)
11
Conclusion Let me make a very summarized conclusion from the livestock sector end user point of view: This is, again, a new tool, coming from this flow Autorities provide regulations Technologies provide tools We take both to imporve our productivity

Thank You!
