2. Classroom Expectations:
Class begins the moment you enter classroom. You should immediately take out Accelerated Reading book and reading log and then begin reading.

3. Classroom Expectations:
You are expected to be in class before tardy bell rings. If you are not in class, you will receive a tardy upon arrival. Any student that arrives to class five minutes after tardy bell rings will receive an automatic referral.

4. Classroom Expectations
Students will only receive one hallway pass per week to leave class for any reason. If a student has a medical issue, then a doctor’s note MUST be on file in the front office to receive more passes.

5. Classroom Expectations:
If a student needs to sharpen his or her pencil, student will quietly raise pencil in the air upon arrival. Teacher or an assigned student will collect pencils and then return them back to student once it is sharpened. All pencils must be sharpened within the first 10 minutes of class. No exceptions! A maximum of two pencils per student will be sharpened daily. I strongly suggest that you have a portable pencil sharpener at your desk.

6. Classroom Expectations:
Students are expected to sit in his or her assigned seat every day. If you are moved for any reason due to BEHAVIOR, do not ask when can you can change your seat.

7. Classroom Expectations:
Do not talk when you are doing independent work or there should be no talking at all. You will get an immediate consequence.

8. Classroom Expectations:
If you need something, raise your hand and wait to be called on silently. Do not ask a neighbor for anything unless you are told to. Do not blurt out.

9. Classroom Expectations:
When working in groups the noise level should be kept to a minimum. I should not hear you if I am standing across the room.

10. Classroom Expectations:
Procedures for working in groups:
Noise must be to a minimum.
All group members must work on project.
Group members must complete all assigned material for that day. Teacher will give students goals for the day.
For any offense, teacher will separate groups and students will either work individual or receive an automatic zero on assignment.

11. Classroom Expectations:
Conversations across classroom that are not directed by teacher are not tolerated.

12. Classroom Expectations:
Stay in your personal space. Absolutely no touching. Do not grab something off of another students desk. Do not make gestures at another student as you are passing by them. Your playfulness is reserved for Big Break only.

13. Classroom Expectations:
Know how “far” you can go with each one of your teachers and classmates. Every behavior is not tolerated from one class to the next, every student is different.

14. Classroom Expectations:
Absolutely no eating in class unless it is given to you as a reward by teacher. The only permitted item to drink in class is a bottle of water. No concealed cups are permitted. If an issue arise, student’s privilege will be taken away. Keep in mind you only have one hallway pass per week.

15. Classroom Expectations:
The classroom should be kept neat and clean at all times. No messy areas. Check around your desk periodically to make sure no paper or pencils are on the floor. Make sure your book sack is placed neatly on the back of your chair. Only clean groups will be dismissed at the ringing of the bell.

16. Classroom Expectations:
Students are NOT allowed to get up out of seat without permission. If you need to throw paper away, fold it in half and put it at the corner of your desk.

17. Classroom Expectations:
Students are dismissed by teacher. When bell rings, do not move until you are given permission.

18. Classroom Expectations:
Students are expected to sit up in class. There is absolutely no slouching in class.

19. Classroom Expectations:
The teacher is the authority figure in this classroom. Students are expected to be obedient.

20. Classroom Expectations:
Bring necessary materials to class daily including homework assignment, class work, paper, pencil, etc. You should have these materials upon entering the classroom.

21. Classroom Expectations:
When intercom comes on, students should remain quiet and not answer for teacher.
If visitor comes in the classroom, you are to continue working and act as if he/she is not in the classroom.

22. Classroom Expectations:
Papers will be passed in an orderly fashion. When passing papers, do not shake the paper at the person. Do not tease the person with the paper. Gently put the paper in student’s hand. This is the same procedure that will be used for turning in papers.

23. Classroom Expectations:
Procedures for standing in a line:
While standing in the line, student must face forward at all times. No talking!
Do not touch anyone.
Do not lean on the walls.
Do not have a gap anywhere in the line.
Follow teacher’s instructions.
Pay attention to direction.

26. Assignments: NO Bonus Assignments
The quality of the work is where the grade comes from not just turning in the assignment.
Absolutely no cheating!
All work must be turned in on time; however, situations do arise. Should a student receive permission to turn in an assignment late, that student will receive a zero until assignment has been turned in and graded.

27. Accelerated Reading:
All students are required to read in class 20 minutes daily.
A student should choose a book that is interesting and within his or her ZPD Level.
AR will serve as the students’ warm-up assignment.

28. Accelerated Reading:
You must have taken and passed all your quizzes by the given due date. NO EXCEPTIONS!
AR is a huge grade! You will get two grades totaling 50 points in both English and Reading.
A student is expected and required to fill out an AR Log daily.

29. Accelerated Reading:
You will not be able to test if your log is not filled in correctly.
