1 A tool for simulating the visual clarity
Clari-Fi A tool for simulating the visual clarity of e-commerce images on mobile devices Introduction Clari-Fi allows you to create large-screen simulations of e-commerce images, which give an indication of the things that can be determined from that image, when displayed at 16 x16 mm on a mobile phone screen. This ‘beta’ free trial version will expire on 01 January after this point the button to ‘Create Mobile Simulation Images’ will stop working. Everything else is unaffected. If you wish to continue using Clari-Fi after the expiry, please contact Beta v0.1 March 2018

2 Terms and conditions of use
This version is a ‘beta’ free trial for review and testing. This version may be distributed freely and used for commercial purposes. The images produced by this tool may be copied into other presentations. This beta trial has been tested on PowerPoint 2016 on Windows 7. It doesn’t work on Mac. You may not edit the Visual Basic code. You may not copy the Visual Basic code or derive any other software from it. You may not alter the slide master of this presentation. Not for resale. Contact Please send your feedback on this tool to Acknowledgements Thanks to Prof Arnold Wilkins at University of Essex for suggesting creating mobile simulations via Gaussian Blurring.

3 Example output from simulations
Simulated 70 cm (Arm's-length) Simulated mobile @ 40 cm (Normal reading) Simulated 25 cm (Close to nose) Original Confirm these simulations for yourself … Visit the accompanying calibration website at cedc.tools/clarifi. From this website, download the accompanying ‘calibration demonstration slides’.

4 In order to use this tool, you must first enable PowerPoint macros.
In File > Options > Trust centre > Trust centre settings, choose ‘Disable all macros with notification’. Once this is set, whenever you open a macro presentation, PowerPoint will ask you whether to enable macros. Close this presentation and reopen it. Click the button labelled ‘Enable Content’ Usage instructions The last slide in this document is a blank template that you can use to create simulations. Paste 1 or 2 images into the last slide. It doesn’t matter how big the images are or where they are on slide. Enter slideshow view at current slide (shift+F5). Click the button to create simulated mobile images. Additional notes This is a ‘quick and dirty’ method for assessing images. A more accurate method is available at seeit.inclusivedesigntoolkit.com. Image assessment consultancy services are available from the University of Cambridge.

5 To use this demonstration slide,
Press SHIFT+F5 to enter presenter mode. Click the button to ‘Create Mobile Simulation Images’. This prompt box will be automatically deleted! Simulation images will be produced.

6 Now paste 1 or 2 images into the next slide
Press SHIFT+F5 to enter presenter mode. Click the button to ‘Create Mobile Simulation Images’. You can duplicate the template slide as many times as you want
