A more effective fugitive slave law would be passed.

9. Fugitive Slave Act
It declared that all runaway slaves be brought back to their masters. Abolitionists nicknamed it the "Bloodhound Law" for the dogs that were used to track down runaway slaves.

10. Uncle Tom’s Cabin By Harriet Beecher Stowe
an anti-slavery novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Published in 1852, the novel "helped lay the groundwork for the Civil War
