Unit 10

2 Form of Leadership Australia’s is made of six states
The Constitution gives the Central government and the state government to right to pass laws Australia also has territories that are not claimed by any states.

3 The Queen is the Head of State in Australia but she does not do anything.
The prime Minister appoints a Governor General to do her job. The governor General of Australia is Peter Cosgrove

4 The Prime Minister is the head of the government
This person is selected by the Parliament. Signs laws Commander and chief of the army, Navy, and air force Approves elections Recommends someone to be the Governor General The current Prime Minister is Malcolm Turnbull

5 The Parliament is broken in to two houses.
Senate and the House of Representatives Australians who are over the age of 18 are required to vote for these people

6 Voting Australians 18 and over are required to vote. (Compulsory)
Australians vote for the Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Prime minister is then selected from the HOR and the S.
