This rural to urban migration is known as URBANIZATION
What were these factory workers making?
Mostly these workers worked in the textile industry which is the production of clothing.

5. A new Socio-Economic Regime
The growth of factories led to new social classes.
The Upper & Middle classes known as the Bourgeois, owned the means of production (factories) and lived relatively comfortable lives
The Industrial Working class, known as the Proletariat, owned only their time and worked for a wage, they lived in foul slums that grew around factories.
