What does this graph show? What is the message of this political cartoon? What happened between 1600 & 1900 that could have cause the population to increase so dramatically?

3 The Enclosure Movement
Since farming could be done more efficiently due to machines wealthy farmers bought up poor farmers land this was known as ENCLOSURE What happened to the poor farmers & their families?

4 Urbanization! The poor farmers who sold their land moved to cities to work in new factories This rural to urban migration is known as URBANIZATION What were these factory workers making? Mostly these workers worked in the textile industry which is the production of clothing.

5 A new Socio-Economic Regime
The growth of factories led to new social classes. The Upper & Middle classes known as the Bourgeois, owned the means of production (factories) and lived relatively comfortable lives The Industrial Working class, known as the Proletariat, owned only their time and worked for a wage, they lived in foul slums that grew around factories.
