Aim: How is Earth’s supply of water being continuously recycled?
Unit 8-Climate Water Cycle Notes Aim: How is Earth’s supply of water being continuously recycled?
2
***THE EARTH RECYCLES WATER***
I. Water Cycle The Earth has a limited supply of water that is constantly being recycled between the oceans, the atmosphere, and the ground. ***THE EARTH RECYCLES WATER***
3
II. Parts of the Water Cycle
4
Change from a liquid to gas from surface water
A. Evaporation Change from a liquid to gas from surface water
5
B. Transpiration Process by which living plants release water vapor into the atmosphere (plant sweat)
6
C. Evapotranspiration Combination of evaporation from the surface water and transpiration from plants and vegetative coverings from the ground. 1. This is how water enters the atmosphere
8
Change of a gas to a liquid; the way in which clouds form
D. Condensation Change of a gas to a liquid; the way in which clouds form
9
E. Precipitation Water in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail falling from the sky
10
F. Runoff Precipitation that is unable to infiltrate the soil, so it moves over land into streams
