3 Young AFCEAN Individual Awards
Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA) 40 or under Can only win once Main focus is on AFCEA contributions Emerging Leadership Must have won DYA award (at least two years ago) Main focus is on demonstration of continuous leadership since winning the DYA award

4 Young AFCEAN Individual Awards
Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year The AFCEA Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) personally select one of the nominated DYAs from their Region to receive the Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award The Awards Committee votes one of these Regional DYAs the Distinguished Young AFCEAN of the Year Recipient is not notified ahead of ceremony

5 Young AFCEAN Chapter Awards
Young AFCEAN Program Award Focus is on providing programs and initiatives geared to the needs of Young AFCEANs including professional development Compete with chapters in same size category Model Young AFCEAN Program Sole non-competitive award Chapters set goals and subsequently submit reports for their YAF program Meet or exceed those goals Submitted to and determined by their RVP Applied for via the chapter officer tools Similar process to Model Chapter award

6 Model Young AFCEAN Program
“Model Chapter Award” for YAF Programs Outline a minimum of six goals for the year At least three categories must be used One category must be membership

7 Young AFCEAN Awards Cycle
Runs August through February August/September Six week nomination period Deadline is Sunday, September 28 at midnight EDT Do not leave submissions until final week! Followed by one week RVP endorsement period October Awards Committee voting period November Confirmation of winners by awards committee Notification of winners and non-winners

December Order awards January Prepare program text Draft scripts for ceremony February Onsite ceremony at WEST

Ensure candidates meet listed criteria

Fill out Justification box on nomination form Type over YOUR RESPONSE HERE Hit Submit once complete

If you made an error on the nomination or missed out relevant information Redo and resubmit the nomination – the last one you submitted will be the one used You must resubmit before the deadline Website will not accept nominations after midnight Contact Susan or Chris and we will take care of the error/addition for you You must contact us no later than four days after the deadline to change an existing nomination

Made up solely of the Regional Vice Presidents 10-day voting period in October Winners confirmed on a conference call held in November

18 Young AFCEAN Awards Ceremony
Held at WEST each year in San Diego Awardee plus guest invited Afternoon reception followed by ceremony In conjunction with Copernicus, DON IM/IT and USNI award winners
