2 What Is Prostate Cancer?
Prostate cancer is a disease that only affects men. Cancer begins to grow in the prostate gland, which is located in the male reproductive system. This disease often shows no symptoms until it is in an advanced stage. Prostate cancer that is found in its early stages can be treated and greatly increases the chance for survival.

Age The older you become, the higher the risk for developing prostate cancer. This disease is uncommon before the age of 45 but is more likely after the age of 50. Diet A diet high in red meat, as well as eating foods high in saturated fat can increase the risk of developing prostate cancer. A doctor feels through the prostate through the rectum, to find large lumpy areas known as nodules. This blood test is used to detect a prostate-specific antigen in the blood. PSA levels in blood are higher if prostate cancer is present.
